12 IN YOUR CORNER: Man seems to lose money in internet based mortgage swindle
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Scammers have actually assembled a classy program to steal from someone trying to get emergency funds through an organization supplying solutions for a quick payday loan.
Jacob Coker noticed various red flags, he says, after he had been taken for $420, hoping to get a $2,500 cash advance
We caught up with Jacob Coker at his efforts. Coker made a poor reasoning name, he says, when he applied for an online payday loan through a number of providers. He’s not yes where fraud originated.
“He informed me that I happened to be scammed immediately after which the guy hung up on me personally,” said Coker. “He stated he was representing Elite money cable and then he ended up being advising me personally I found myself scammed by an employee.”
I had long conversations with owner Victor Daniel, who says someone is impersonating his business. He claims he’s been victimized three times this month and reported each one.
Coker claims it began with a contact verifying the guy had gotten authorized. After that crooks staged a phone call – purportedly from his bank – declaring that they had $2,500 ready for deposit to his membership, but somebody was required to pay the move cost.
Receipts show Coker bought two Green Dot MoneyPak pre-paid cards, $280 to cover the fee and $140 more to satisfy a second problem scammers made up about the lender.
