Gender shame aside from framing people as hopeless in a sexualised way
there is another thing at play right here: the framing of feminine sex as one thing filthy and shameful.
Esmeralda is, once more, a great illustration of this. As a figure, she’s clearly touching the lady sexuality: during Festival of Fools, she ‘performs on-stage in an extremely beautiful red dress’, actually twirling around a spear ‘as a makeshift pole.’ Clothes she wears is really tight and shows every curve and muscle tissue. (Read more about this on Hannah Koga’s post ‘Esmeralda and Sexualization’).
And this is what causes Frollo’s obsession together, but it also profoundly disgusts him (some strong repression going on there). A complete song are specialized in they:
‘This burning up want is actually switching us to sin.’‘Destroy Esmeralda, and allow her to taste the fires of hell,or else allow her to feel mine and mine alone.’
Though there is thankfully most push-back on this subject type story, women are often nonetheless shamed for intimate behavior. A woman must however worry being known as a ‘slut’, which may cause the lady to shed some of her thought ‘value’. She’s got to ‘play difficult to get’ in order for a person will imagine she actually is interesting and worth getting chased — if she gives in prematurely, she’s ‘easy’.
When my personal boyfriend and his awesome buddies carried out as (comedic) strippers at bachelorette events, it was entertaining.
